¡Quiero Viajar a España! (I Want to Travel to Spain!) This project is an adaptation of: A WebQuest for Level 3 and Above (Spanish) Designed by |
|
Introduction Your group
has been hired by a student travel agency. The agency specializes in trips
for high school groups to Spanish-speaking countries. The agency has just
added a new program in Spain. They need you to research the four main
cities that the program visits: Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastian, and
Valencia.
|
The Task Your task
in this WebQuest comes in four parts:
¡Buena Suerte!
|
|
The Process 1. You will
be assigned to a group of four, selected by the teacher. 2. Before you
begin your individual city research, please review this site to give you
some background information on the country as a whole. Spain is a very
diverse country with a lot to offer. You will also find more General Spain
Links on the ROLES Page.
Please look through these links too!
Once in your groups, you must each choose one of the four cities to research. The roles are listed below. Click on your link to find helpful information that will aide you in your research. You should look for languages spoken, cultural aspects, popular sightseeing locations, and historical information about the city. Some sites may be written in Spanish only. If you have trouble translating the information, please make use of the Spanish/English dictionaries that are linked to each of the individual role pages.
4. After you
have completed your research, it is time to make your PowerPoint
presentation. At least one sentence per slide should be in Spanish and should include all of the
information you found in addition to pictures that you might want to include
in the brochure. Make sure to pay special attention to the questions asked
in Step 2 of the process and in your specific role page. Turn in a printed
copy of the notes pages and slides to your teacher. 5. Next, the
whole group will come together to present their PowerPoint presentations to
each other. The point of this is so that all of the group members learn
about the cities in Spain that your tour company will be visiting. 6. After everyone has shared their PowerPoint presentations, the group will work together to create a brochure about the trip to Spain. As a group, come to a consensus about the important highlights of each city as seen from the presentations. The brochure should include relevant information about each city, pictures, and an itinerary. The brochure should be creative and persuasive and have at least one part written in Spanish. You want to convince high school students to choose to attend this program. As a group, write an introduction about why students should go to Spain. Word Process the brochure and include graphics. Use a legal sized paper folded in half. If you need assistance, ask the teacher for help.
|
Evaluation Your work will be evaluated by your teacher. 50% of your grade will be an individual grade for the research you complete and the PowerPoint that you create based on the first rubric below. The teacher will grade your presentation based on the printed copy you turn in. The other 50% of your grade will be a group grade decided by your teacher as outlined in the second rubric below. It will be based on your group’s travel brochure and presentation to the class showcasing your final project. Individual PowerPoint (50 points): Group Travel Brochure (50 points):
Conclusion The travel
agency would like to thank you for your help in the production of a new
brochure to better target students’ interest! During the research process you should have learned a lot about your city in
addition to learning from the members of your group. Hopefully, you now
realize how important it is that everyone does his or her part and
cooperates with the group in order to be successful. You should also have a
better understanding of each of the selected cities in Spain, as well as be
able to recognize the differences and similarities between them. ROLES PAGE
